The law

The law says: The parent of every school age child should make sure they recieve efficient full-time education suitable - a) to age, ability & aptitude b) to special educational needs, by regular attendance at school or otherwise.

For some students, it is not possible to attend a mainstream school, but all young people must still recieve an education. Young people with serious illness or young women who are pregnant may need alternative arrangements. By law, the local education authority has to provide suitable education for young people under 16 who are unable to attend mainstream school. This applies even if you have been permanently exculded.
