Holiday discount scheme

Did you know:
There are 190 school days in a year, leaving you 175 days in which to take holidays!

Family holidays in term time:

  • Avoid taking your son or daughter on holiday in term time.
  • By law parents do not have the right to take their child out of school for holidays, and schools do not have to give permission.
  • Missing school may affect your child's college or employment application.
  • Young people taken out of school struggle to catch up on work. Two weeks off school is equal to 50 hours of learning.

Family holidays in school holidays:

Taking holidays in school holidays will help your son or daughter achieve good attendance. The council recognises this is often expensive so have teamed up with Thomas Cook to offer up to 10% discount! This is an average saving of over £100 on a holiday for four!

The downloadable leaflet on the left provides more information.

Every Lesson Counts

The Department for Education and Skills also offer a holiday discount scheme, a link to a government site providing more information about this can be found to the right.
