We are currently inviting the business community to support us in this and ultimately improve the life chances for young people in the city. School attendance is crucial if children are to reach their full potential; recognising and developing these skills required to secure and be sucessful in employment. Learning heightens aspirations and increases attainment.
In order to improve attendance, schools would like to offer rewards to young people who have excellent or significantly improved attendance. We are seeking donations which will be used as attendance rewards. The rewards would be distributed through a whole school competition, aiming to get more young people engaged in learning.
By offering rewards other councils have significantly improved school attendance. We feel rewarding those pupils who do well, recognises achievement and encourages improvement.
